Sponsor Family

The Government of Canada has introduced many immigration friendly policies to accommodate the immigrants; introduction of the Express Entry System in the month of January this year has brought dramatic changes to ease the immigration process.

There are number of dedicated immigration policies have been introduced in different categories for Overseas student visa, Family sponsorship visa, skilled worker visa and many others by the Canadian government. The main objective of these immigration policies is to ease the immigration process, each and every visa application has its own unique features to accommodate the migrant communities.

 Family Visa


The main objective of Family sponsorship visa is to reunite the family members in Canada, through this program Canadian Citizens and Permanent Residents of Canada can sponsor to their family members like dependent children, parents and grandparents, spouse, common-law, or conjugal partners. If the member of successfully secures a permanent resident, they can study, work and live in Canada.

Spouse and Common Law Partner Sponsorship

Through this program both Canadian Citizen and Permanent Resident can sponsor to the foreign nationals, in order to receive the sponsored visa for foreign national, it has to be approved by Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) body of the Canadian immigration. To obtain visa through this program both the sponsor and sponsored person should prove that their relationship in three categories such as:

  • Spouse
  • Common-Law Partner
  • Conjugal Partner

Parent and Grandparent Sponsorship

A Citizen and Permanent Resident of Canada can sponsor for their Parent and Grandparent to become Permanent Resident under the Family Class (FC) program, under this program sponsoring person is responsible for financially supporting his/ her parent or grandparent. As a sponsor they must ensure that their parent and grandparent does not seek any support from the government. After the completion of four years in Canada by parent and grandparent can apply for Permanent Residency status.

There are many requirements needs to be fulfilled by the Sponsor to be eligible under this program:

  • Must be a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident
  • Must be 18 years or above
  • Should cross the minimum necessary income level

Parent and Grandparent Super Visa

Super Visa program allows parents and grandparents of Canadian citizens and Permanent Residents to apply, the validity of the super visa is up to 10 years and it allows to visit their family in Canada for up to two years without renewing the status of the visa. It was announced on 1 December 2011 by the Canadian government. The applicants cannot include dependent in this application, it is only the applicant spouse or common law partner can visit Canada under this visa.  

Sponsorship for dependent Child and other relatives

Sponsor Family under the dependent Children program, both biological and adopted can be sponsored to live with their parents as Permanent Residents in Canada,  to be eligible under this program both Canadian Resident and Permanent Resident and their child abroad needs to be approved by the Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) to receive visa under this program. This sponsorship visa program is one part of the Family Class program.
