In order to study in Cyprus as overseas students category for various educational courses in Cyprus, students must get study permit from the Cyprus government before they enter Cyprus. In some exceptional cases this rule does not apply, for instance students who are enrolling in a short-term course or program of six months or less does not require study permit. However, if they extend more than six months for studies, it is good to opt for study permit before they enter Cyprus.

Before applying for study permit students must be selected in a Cyprus academic institution, each province and territory in Cyprus has its own educational policies to select overseas students. Students must register their candidature in a government  authorized educational institutions to pursue their studies.

Once the selection of the candidature is approved, students have to apply for admission. The educational institute admits the candidate as student, they will receive a letter of acceptance. Candidates have to enclose the letter of acceptance in order to apply for study permit.
